2017 Mazda6 Fuel Economy and Driving Range

In the past few years, the demand for an increased fuel efficiency in vehicles has increased tremendously. Drivers have discovered that better fuel efficiency not only is easier on their billfolds, but is also a time saver due to fewer stops at the pump. Mazda has been a leader in fuel efficiency, and drivers flock to the Japanese automaker’s vehicles because of it. A favorite vehicle model is the 2017 Mazda6 because of its estimated fuel economy and driving range.

The 2017 Mazda6 is classified as a midsize sedan, which makes it a little bigger than the 2017 Mazda3. Many drivers and passengers—especially those who are tall—find this sizing to be more comfortable thanks to the extra leg, elbow, and headroom.

Despite the larger size, the 2017 Mazda6 is incredibly efficient. This is all thanks to the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder engine with VVT that works its magic under the hood. The SKYACTIV® technology allows for the most power output while remaining as easy on fuel as possible. The engine produces 184 horsepower and 185 lb.-ft. of torque, and it can be paired with either a SKYACTIV®-MT 6-speed manual transmission or a SKYACTIV®-Drive 6-speed Sport automatic transmission with manual shift and Sport mode.

Models outfitted with the automatic transmission are able to attain an estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. Manual models deliver an estimated 24 mpg-city/34 mpg-highway fuel economy.

All 2017 Mazda6 models have a 16.4-gallon fuel tank, which allows for an estimated driving range of 557.6 (manual models) to 574 (automatic models) highway miles. We don’t recommend driving your 2017 Mazda6 down to empty, but you can still travel far on three-quarters of a tank (12.3 gallons; 418.2 to 430.5 highway miles).

Please note that your actual driving range may vary due to your driving style, current weather conditions, and elevations encountered.
