The grade of fuel you put in your vehicle can have an affect on the performance of the engine. Some performance vehicles require “premium” (93 Octane) fuel. Does the 2019 Mazda6 require premium fuel?

How many engines are offered on the 2019 Mazda6?

2019 Mazda6 Front Seat Interior2019 Mazda6 models that come equipped with the base 2.5-liter SKYACTIV®-G engine are able to achieve their peak performance of 186 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque with standard 87 Octane gasoline.

If your 2019 Mazda6 is equipped with the available SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T turbocharged engine, using 87 Octane gasoline will result in engine performance numbers of 227 horsepower. When using the 93 Octane gasoline, the engine performance maxes out at 250 horsepower. Both octanes will result in 310 pound-feet of torque. Drivers looking to maximize the performance of their Mazda6 will want to use premium fuel.

Fuel economy ratings for the base SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 engine check in at 26 miles per gallon in the city and 35 mpg on the highways for 29 mpg combined. SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T models are rated at 23 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highways for 26 mpg combined. The SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 engine utilizes cylinder deactivation technology that shuts down unneeded cylinders when the Mazda6 reached cruising speeds. This is designed to help increase fuel economy ratings.
